Yacochuya 2015 - Rolland Collection

Yacochuya 2015 Cafayate Argentina

100% Malbec

“… Rich and intense fruity aromas …”

A great vintage in the Salta Province. The 2,000m altitude gives this Malbec its distinctive character.

The deep garnet-red colour is still very dark, reminiscent of a very young wine.

The exuberant red fruit aromas are typical of wines in this region, marked by rich and intense fruity aromas of strawberry and raspberry.

Fresh on the palate with surprising tension and acidity. The tannin is dense and well-defined. A beautiful, long aftertaste.

While this wine can be enjoyed within the next 25 years, it is also a real pleasure to drink now.

Yacochuya 2015 - Rolland Collection 93/100
The flagship 2015 Yacochuya is a structured, super ripe, heady, warm, concentrated and generously oaked Malbec from vines planted in 1913 on very poor soils at 2,035 meters in altitude with an almost desert climate. It fermented in 12,400-liter stainless steel tanks followed by malolactic in barrel and an élevage of 18 months in brand new French oak barriques. This is in a style that has many followers, a blockbuster of a red with notes of dark fruit and spices, a hint of leather and something earthy. The palate is full-bodied with plenty of tannins and less oak flavors than I remember from past vintages. It's XXL in a more balanced fashion, but obviously for fans of the style. 30,000 bottles were filled in November 2016. Luis Gutiérrez
