Le Défi de Fontenil 2005 - Rolland Collection

Le Défi de Fontenil 2005 Wine of France France

100% Merlot - Limited Edition

An excellent vintage. The power of generous Mother Nature.

One of the finest vintages of the 2000s.

The colour is beginning to show slightly orangey hues whilst remaining dark and majestic.

Complex aromas of cigar box, spices and cedar come to the fore. A very rich wine revealing notes of liquorice and mocha.

The palate is wonderfully delicate and elegant with a fine tannic texture.

Le Défi de Fontenil 2005 - Rolland Collection 92-94/100
Very perfumed and pretty on the nose with flowers and berries. Medium- to full-bodied, with fine tannins and a long, caressing finish. Seamless texture. This is pure Merlot. Super cuvée. JS
Le Défi de Fontenil 2005 - Rolland Collection 91-93/100
As usual, Le Defi is nearly all Merlot. It shows more oak and structure than the Fontenil, and seems to be a potentially longer-lived cuvee, but I’m not sure it is any better than the Fontenil.
