Le Défi de Fontenil 2011 - Rolland Collection

Le Défi de Fontenil 2011 Wine of France France

100% Merlot - Limited Edition

“The” vintage of good wine grower and of great selection.

An often-criticised vintage, yet behind a beautiful deep colour lies very intense ripe fruit aromas.

A wonderfully powerful and tannic wine with a lovely texture and a long and well-structured finish.

Le Défi de Fontenil 2011 - Rolland Collection 94/100
Dark purple core. The nose is fresh and mineral with vibrant dark fruit, blackberry, violet, plum and discreet oak. The palate has a nice density of fruit with a bright freshness, good balance and well integrated oak, supple tannin and a long, lingering finish.
Le Défi de Fontenil 2011 - Rolland Collection 91/100
This shows so much fruit and richness, with firm tannins and bright fruit. It’s tight and integrated. Blackberry, blueberry and lavender character.
Le Défi de Fontenil 2011 - Rolland Collection 90/100
Very deep inky-ruby. Sexy, perfumed aromas of candied violet, crystallized blackberry, mocha and minerals. Dense and creamy, but with sound acidity giving shape and lift to the blueberry syrup and floral flavors. Finishes long and clean, with polished tannins.
