Château Fontenil 2012 - Rolland Collection

Château Fontenil 2012 Fronsac France

90% Merlot - 10% Cabernet Sauvignon

A rather merlot vintage and good technical choices.

A predominantly Merlot vintage where good technical choices have been made. Dark, attractive ruby-red colour.

It is a classic, expressing lovely red fruit notes, hints of liquorice and aromas of a still youthful wine.

Good tannic grip along with a great deal of elegance and finesse.

A very appealing wine, which can be enjoyed now or in many years to come.

Château Fontenil 2012 - Rolland Collection 93/100
Lovely pure fruit, blackberry, cassis and fine spices, fresh and vibrant with dense dark fruit, long and intense finish, very polished with ripe tannin but good freshness and bite. Andreas Larsson
90/100
This red shows beautiful ripe fruits such as cherries, cassis and some mineral notes on the nose. Full body combining soft tannins, lovely acidity and a long fruity finish.
Château Fontenil 2012 - Rolland Collection 89+/100
The 2012 is close to outstanding. Deep ruby/purple with floral notes, blueberry, black raspberry and cassis fruit, and a hint of minerality, this rich, medium-bodied, concentrated wine once again over-achieves in 2012. That’s not surprising, given its proprietors. The wine should drink well for at least 10-12 years, judging from the minerality and density of this effort. It is a sleeper of the vintage. Kudos to the Rollands!
