Château Fontenil 2016 - Rolland Collection

Château Fontenil 2016 Fronsac France

100% Merlot

The improbable vintage!

A superb year in all respects with a near-perfect weather pattern.

The harvest took place in great conditions, producing beautiful grapes from north to south.

Undoubtedly the most accomplished vintage since 2009 and 2010.

Behind its dark crimson colour lie exuberant aromas of oak, red fruit, black cherry, raspberry and mocha. Opulent and powerful on the palate with tannin that is noticeable, but not firm.

Sure to be a sensation if you like a memorable wine, served with game.

Otherwise, equally delightful over the next 20 years.

Château Fontenil 2016 - Rolland Collection 94/100
Perfumed nose, floral with red fruit. Burgundian texture, but dense, ripe tannin, smooth and a long lingering finish.
Château Fontenil 2016 - Rolland Collection 93/100
Extremely perfumed and bright with raspberry, currant and dried-flower character. Full-bodied, yet soft and velvety with a flavorful finish. Already gorgeous. Better from 2022.
Château Fontenil 2016 - Rolland Collection 92/100
The 2016 Fontenil is ripe, racy and voluptuous. Floral and blood orange notes add lift and energy to the red berry and raspberry jam fruit. Vibrant and wonderfully inviting, the 2016 has so much to offer. Silky tannins add to the wine's sheer appeal.
Château Fontenil 2016 - Rolland Collection 90-93/100
Château Fontenil 2016 - Rolland Collection 91+/100
The 2016 Fontenil is medium to deep garnet-purple colored and gives up exuberant red cherries, black raspberries, wild blueberries and cinnamon stick scents with hints of wild sage and forest floor. Medium-bodied, refreshing and wonderfully elegant, it has beautiful vibrancy and a perfumed finish. Neal Martin
Château Fontenil 2016 - Rolland Collection 90+/100
The home terroir of famed consultant Michel Rolland, the 2016 Château Fontenil sports a vivid purple color to go with impressive amounts of plum and currant fruits as well as loads of tobacco leaf, cedar pencil shavings, and camphor. Medium to full-bodied, with terrific elegance and purity, it shines for its balance and is very much in the style of the 2016 vintage. It will be even better with short-term cellaring and drink well for 10-15 years.
