Mariflor Pinot Noir 2018 - Rolland Collection

Mariflor Pinot Noir 2018 Mendoza Argentina

100% Pinot Noir

“… fruit-focused personality…”

Brilliant, intense colour with nice ruby-red highlights.

The nose is complex with aromas of ripe fruit, redcurrant and blackcurrant.

Very well-balanced, charming and elegant on the palate.

Perfect to drink now yet equally enjoyable in ten years’ time.

Michel Rolland

Despite its compact dark purple grapes, Pinot juice is colourless; this explains that, once vinified with a specific method, this same juice is used to make Champagne. As A. Tchelistcheff said: “Chardonnay is a red wine disguised as a white, Pinot Noir is a white wine disguised as a red”.

What better claim to fame for this most aristocratic variety than to sire the greatest wines of Burgundy and Champagne!

And what a challenge for us, natives of Bordeaux, to attempt to tame this noble and sensitive Burgundy prince !

Four hectares of Pinot Noir were planted in 2002, the unique plot of land with this grape-variety on the Campo of Clos de los Siete.

The first Mariflor Pinot Noir was made in 2005.

Mariflor Pinot Noir 2018 - Rolland Collection 91/100
This is a pinot noir with a more fruit-focused personality and firm tannins. Full-bodied, yet fresh and solid. More of a nod to West Coast USA pinot than to Burgundy. Drink or hold.
